Overview
Son Doong Cave in Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province - is the largest natural cave in the world. This cave is located in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave complex. It is a part of an underground system connected to more than 150 other caves in Vietnam located near the border with Laos.
Son Doong Cave is considered an amazingly beautiful picture with many stalactites in strange shapes. The most special thing of Son Doong is containing a growing area of primeval tree forest in the cave. The world geological scientists said Son Doong is the most spectacular cave in the world.
Son Doong Cave was discovered in 1991 when Ho Khanh, a local resident accidentally found out when he fled into the cave entrance to avoid the rain. After a period of time until 2006, when the expedition of the Royal Cave Association of England came to this area, Ho Khanh informed them. It was very difficult for him to find the cave which was located deep in the jungle with quite rugged terrain, far from the big road and undetectable on Google Earth and he himself named the cave.
Son Doong Cave
In Son Doong cave, the largest cave is more than 6 km long, 150 m high and 200 m wide. Thus, Son Doong passed Deer Cave, Gunnung Mulu National Park in Malaysia to become the world's largest cave. This cave has a beautiful stalactite system with images of "paradise garden", or a collection of "pearls" of thousands of years old.
The path from the entrance to the cave has a steep slope; it is very difficult to go down and you must follow an underground river, running swiftly to get deep into the cave.
The cave section has a width of about 92m, with this nearly 244m wide arch in which Son Doong can accommodate a 40-storey building in New York, USA. The structures here are bigger and more majestic than any imaginary human. Mr. Howard Limbert said that the largest place of Son Doong cave can accommodate three large planes at the same time.
Son Doong Cave
Son Doong Cave was formed about 2-5 million years ago, when river water flowed through the limestone area that was buried along a fault line. The water line eroded and drowned out a giant tunnel in the ground under the mountains. In soft rock places, the ceiling collapses to form holes, long into the giant cave arches.
A section of the roof of Son Doong cave collapsed many years ago, creating a spectacular forest in the middle of the cave. The explorers named this place the Eden Garden. The area of the island has a large area, including many large plants and vast water surrounded by various clusters of trees and plants and ecosystems. The diversity of the tropics, especially the intertwined creeper plants across the rock
